We have had our eye on an apartment for a while which has been expected to become available for the past couple of years, and now is. It’s about double the size of ours and much less than double the price :) It is in no means my ideal home but it would be a good next 5-8 years place.. big enough to give bump her own room and not crush us financially.. the thing is this place need’s a LOT of work. This partially excites me and yet I right now just don’t feel I have the patience for it.

Its funny how when you think of leaving your little abode you suddenly become aware of all the things you love and will really miss about it

for me which is;

how it takes 4 steps from my bed to the toilet.

how every room is flooded with light at every time of day.

the little wilderness known as the back garden.

The church across the back from which I can hear the gospel choir singing.

The always creative stretch along the cycle path before reaching my home from the main street.

the bazar shops just a little bit along the street.

My balcony.

But then there are the pros to look forward to too..

The obvious, having more space to put things..

The new place would have no bathing facilities, so we would be having a bathroom installed, which mean’s I could have a bath tub!

We may even be allowed washing machines in this building- now that would be handy!

We could have the place done exactly as we want it- new kitchen bathroom suite etc.

We would be moving practically across the street from family and around the corner from a lovely friend.. always a bonus when you have a kid!! ;)

The best Indian food place we have found is just down the street too! (nearly alone worth the move!)

Our new ward that we would attend church at only has two meetings.. not the usual three. I have sort of mixed feelings tho on that one. We would also have family in our new word too.

One thing I love about living here is how there is a guarantee of regularly seeing new creativity as I pass along the cycle path that cuts through our street to the main road.

I was delighted to see..

Store Bededag

I got a little excited when I saw that in my calendar. Great thought I- I recognize ‘Store’ immediately as meaning ‘big’ and I thought- imagined the rest meant ‘bed-day’ I thought this was a holiday made for me. On my way home from work MrA. ask’s that I nip into a bakers and get some ‘hveder’- special roll’s made only on this night in preparation for ‘great prayer day’- yep, that’s what ‘store bededag‘ means. The roll’s traditionally were bought in a double batch from bakers to last through the praying holiday period as bakers did not have to work on that day.. and today the tradition still stands.. here’s MrA with his roll which he claims must be simply eaten warm and buttered.

I sneaked some roast beef into mine..

Summer

I can’t wait to go back to Scotland next month..

We will be in time for the music festival in the town..

and the best ever fresh strawberry tarts from the local farm.

With nice weather for BBQ’s..

& going to the beach.

Green APple skirt

I find it so hard to find maternity clothes I like that don’t cost the earth, so I made myself this skirt..

Do you know how hard it is to take a picture of yourself?!

Now I’m just showing off bump!

And the stretchy panel.. maybe it should have been green.. didn’t have green stretch fabric tho.. and I can fold it down which is nice and comfy.. but I thought I’d spare you an eye-full.

neck deep in love

This morning as I was brushing my teeth I had the thought that today would be a day for counting blessings, because I have so darn many of them its hard sometimes to keep track. I’m not saying that my life could never be any better but it is really pretty great, and there’s little more that I could ever want, yes it may seem unbelievable and crazy to some.

So what started as a good day, just got better & better.

Flowers that Mr A. got for me the other week.. what fantastic colour- I couldn’t stop looking at them.

I jumped on to my bike and headed to work. I got to take a different route which was lovely while the sun shone. I got to work and was greeted by my amazing coworkers, love em- seriously do and really enjoy my job, how fortunate am I! The day went fast and on my way home I text the busy MrA to see if he would like me to pick him up anything special from the shops, which turned into a load of flirty texts back and forward.. (that made my stomach tickle even more than baby could) The same feeling I got when we dated. He called me by my maiden name, and say’s I’ll always be the cute girl with the belly laugh and the amazing eyes. Later that night he proposes to me again.. we have been married 3yrs. I hope he wants to propose to me again in another three years.

I cherish these moments

I know not everyday is so perfect and easy

So I had to write it down, to make me smile when the sun seems distant.

Its been the perfect day for counting my blessings

Mr A. I love you

yum, yum, and did I mention yumm..

I feel that one of the main skills of being a top mum is now complete- just in the nick of time. Its taken me a while and trying a few different recipes to get these right. Oh baby.

Time to fully embrace Danish minimalism!

I’m taking a break from scanning through every apartment therapy post on Ohdeedoh (the part of the site that deals with kids stuff) as I try to figure out how we can best accommodate the arrival of bump.

small-apartment2

We had been (slowly but surely) working on having the apartment made suitable for the two of us and I have to say- we were pretty close to completion, now we need to make it work for three and the third one likely to be in at everything..  in our current 55 sq meter two room apartment that could be trouble (although I know it can be done- I’ve seen a family of six, and heard of many more families in Denmark who live in an apartment the same size as ours) so..

I have to make way for a nice safe play friendly area in the living room, but I think it’s the bedroom that’s going to take the most work.

The plan-

  1. Good storage and organization is key

  2. Scrap everything that isn’t needed- including getting rid of large and unnecessary furniture/coffee tables- floor lamps etc. (I’ve heard it suggested too that for everything new brought into the house you should get rid of something else)

  3. Have a designated play area with soft flooring.

  4. A designated (eye level) family eating place- that will come a bit later tho I’m taking into consideration now.

(thank gooodddness we got the kitchen redone last summer!)

Stripes!

My easy stripey blanket is coming along just fine :D

40 things I love about you.

Getting ready for baby..

I fell in love with this colour combo on my recent fabric shop, my plan is simply to line the fleecy with the print.

apartment covered in post-it notes..

Is what I came home to find after my fabric shopping trip with the girls on Saturday. Mr A was missing me and wrote down what he loves about me, there were 40 of them. All genuine and real things. I never would have thought someone could find 40 things in me they could love. I keep finding them still and they often bring tears to my eyes. I’m so thankful for my precious husband, for his love and for the romance and reality we share everyday.

The pink & red stripy blanket I’m making! I decided to keep the first one very basic. Sometimes basic is good, especially when you’re just starting out. I feel very connected to my roots while I knit.. I come from a family of knitting generations.. it feels only right that I continue to learn the craft and carry the tradition on.
