One thing I love about living here is how there is a guarantee of regularly seeing new creativity as I pass along the cycle path that cuts through our street to the main road.

Store Bededag

I got a little excited when I saw that in my calendar. Great thought I- I recognize ‘Store’ immediately as meaning ‘big’ and I thought- imagined the rest meant ‘bed-day’ I thought this was a holiday made for me. On my way home from work MrA. ask’s that I nip into a bakers and get some ‘hveder’- special roll’s made only on this night in preparation for ‘great prayer day’- yep, that’s what ‘store bededag‘ means. The roll’s traditionally were bought in a double batch from bakers to last through the praying holiday period as bakers did not have to work on that day.. and today the tradition still stands.. here’s MrA with his roll which he claims must be simply eaten warm and buttered.

I sneaked some roast beef into mine..

Modern meets Retro for Lunch

Its warm and lively not to mention it has a chalkboard wall, the kitchen is

almost finished!

We have been looking for a table that works in our little kitchen then last week I was on my way to work when I cycled past thus shop with a little table for sale outside it. I’m a little concerned that our kitchen gets too modern looking, its must have some cool retro! Anyway back to the table.. we have looked at many and then I see this one which is amazing, I didn’t have time to stop and hoped it would still be there the next day- when I went past then I was in a hurry but I was lucky that it was still I jumped off my bike to find it was in fair condition second hand and for only 50 DKK! thats about 5GBP.. uh huh mega bargain for the perfect finishing touch! I can’t show you now tho because its not up yet but believe you me its PERFECT in every way! Still cant believe how spacious our little kitchen feels/is now!

Oprah loves Copenhagen

Oprah was here for the IOC meeting and of course she couldn’t resist making a show on Copenhagen. Charmed by the simple living, fair benefits and family orientedness in Danish lifestyle. A show was aired today, introducing the world to the ‘happiest women on earth’. You can read and get a tour of a danish family home here. Now everyones like – ‘I want to live in Copenhagen!’ but the truth is half of them wouldn’t be able to hack it!

Oprah, Obama, Aqua and DAD are a few who were in town this weekend for the International Olympic Committee meeting where they announced the host for the next Olympic games.. and the winner is.. Rio. We got a very fun weekend out of it as usual. I don’t miss much as I cycle through the city everyday. Mr A came to meet me from work as he so often kindly does on Fridays before we hit the town! I only had my phone on me for taking pics again urgh.

Its Aqua!! I would have been soo excited about this ten years ago.

Then I was introduced to the music responsible for the loss of hearing in MrA’s left ear before we snuck away for dinner and a movie- UP is fabulous, though made me teary and mrA held my hand verry tightly through except for when he needed both hands for his engnormmous soda.

A place to breathe

Yes, take some time out to breathe!

At the moment this is my favorite place to go to ‘breathe’ Kongens Have (Kings garden) That’s right, the fairy tale like structure is indeed a castle.

I pass this park.. or garden everyday but until last week I had never entered (because I was busy on my way to work) but last week I found myself with some spare time and I entered the magical like garden to find myself with again a new perspective of life in Copenhagen. Kongens Have is I think to Copenhagen city what central park is to New York. It has just as distinctive a sky line I think too with the pretty buildings surrounding. Its a nice big clean green space, makes you go aaaaghh, and give a big sigh doesn’t it?

bicycle drive-in..

MrA and I hopped on our bikes and made to the park last night to see ‘Milk’ and back again tonight for the surprise showing.. which turned out to be ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ there were so many more people tonight- the park was completely filled. I guess that’s what happens when there are free movies hosted outdoors on nice summer nights.

We took off to the summerhouse for a week of relaxation, we sauna’d till we were clean and shiny. And took day trips to little towns and I decided that we would move to Viking town Roskild when we get older. And I made my own little summer garden scrapbooking elements.. all out of circles.

My happiest moment was found in giving. There were smiles that day.

And being with the one who I love.
