Colour Love

I don’t know what comes over me when I suddenly get an idea in my head and then spend the next two evenings sewing like mad to get it finished before I have an other idea or lose interest!

Color is super important to me, as a baby some of my first vivid memories involve bright wonderful magical color and I want Nora to have that same joy! Where better to paint with color than inside her pram!

Unintentionally matches the rain cover perfectly too.. want a closer look what its like to be in there… just climb on in beside Nora, she’s very sleepy but there’s room..

And we match the colors in Nora’s favorite street art.. she thinks this is amazing..

I find it so hard to find maternity clothes I like that don’t cost the earth, so I made myself this skirt..

Do you know how hard it is to take a picture of yourself?!

Now I’m just showing off bump!

And the stretchy panel.. maybe it should have been green.. didn’t have green stretch fabric tho.. and I can fold it down which is nice and comfy.. but I thought I’d spare you an eye-full.

Getting ready for baby..

I fell in love with this colour combo on my recent fabric shop, my plan is simply to line the fleecy with the print.

Is what I came home to find after my fabric shopping trip with the girls on Saturday. Mr A was missing me and wrote down what he loves about me, there were 40 of them. All genuine and real things. I never would have thought someone could find 40 things in me they could love. I keep finding them still and they often bring tears to my eyes. I’m so thankful for my precious husband, for his love and for the romance and reality we share everyday.

The pink & red stripy blanket I’m making! I decided to keep the first one very basic. Sometimes basic is good, especially when you’re just starting out. I feel very connected to my roots while I knit.. I come from a family of knitting generations.. it feels only right that I continue to learn the craft and carry the tradition on.

Eastery treats

- making something from pretty fabrics for nieces & nephews.. While at the summer house I had a great idea for an Easter creation using fabric, but now I can’t remember what it was! Must check my sketch book.

I also have mini bunting in the brain.. I’m dying to make some! For how to make this deelightful card here

Retro brain

Yes yes I have retro on the brain.. here are a couple of things that are not budging from my head since I’ve seen them.. There is this.. (if only I had a little more wall space in my hall or kitchen!) I found as browsing through lene’s blog which was created by a rather marvelous friend of hers called Nathalie who’s creations can be viewed here I’m rather liking the Jul owl decorations.. yep now you want a peak!

Mum’s the word

Then there’s my amazingly talented mum, has the touch of an angel when it comes to anything yarn, I just saw her latest creation on her little shop bloggy and as always am delighted by her and her beauty and patience.. The photos are also super and an example of the talent that runs in our family- I believe that perhaps my father took these snaps and that my little sister edited them, perhaps she took one of them too.. you can see more of her photography here.

And then there are these! Which I was a very lucky girl to receive.. from my finder brother in laws one whom has an amazing antique store- what a find and how lucky am I to be thought of as the receiver for such a find! There is a whole collection of well cared for knitting pins plus sewing and Knitting magazines dating back to the 50′s! Check out the Pom pom templates..

Time for some color. We’re a bit careful about adding color in our small apartment but we need to have SOME colour, so we got a bit brave and painted a wall with chalkboard paint. (extra benefit of having a cool memo board) The color was a bit of a surprise, found the paint on sale here and thought ‘what the heck, lets give it a go!’ We love it- really makes us smile. I just had to go on and paint the stool too!

We’ve got the table for the living room to finish still and then next we will do a quick fix inexpensive bathroom make-over, could get quite creative- I’m excited!

Sleepless

Last night was very restless and could not sleep I found El Perro del Mar‘s blog and was talking to MrA about it, he replies- she’s playing in malmo next weekend- wanna go? Woo yeah!

We have some very similar ideas and inspirations. She states;

‘It can’t seem to make it’s mind up. The sky. And neither can’t I. It’s perfectly pathetic really. But today I decided – no more collecting people. Or rather – I don’t need another place where I can tie more people to some hazy web. I’ve always found the idea of collecting and consuming people as something quite perverse. I wouldn’t do it in real life. As a matter of fact I shy away from it in real life so wouldn’t it be kind of inconsitent of me to feel a need to do it elsewhere.’

Amonge the artists we share an admiration for, she links to this song which takes me back to the summer when I was 18 an art student, working as a human scare crow in a newly planted field- I spent many long days in the sun (and some in the rain) pondering life and feeling through music. We also share an admiration for Louise Borgeois.. who inspired me a lot when I was a student in art school. I first apreciated her conceptual installations and sculptures but now I am loving most of all Borgeois’ hand painted textile book.

Bye bye cramped Kitchen

This week we have been getting our hands dirty tearing out our ol kitchen.. its come a long way

The old meter is beautiful but we could really use that space..

How we did it..

removed 6 layers of wallpaper/paint, tore off those roof tiles instantly adding inches to the room called for a bit of work!

Why does this man never take off those slippers?!

Im excited to see the natural floor all cleaned up- hopefully that will be next week. Things have come to a halt with the rest untill we get our cables put into the walls with nice flush sockets.. every space saving detail counts, its going to be quite a minimal kitchen with nice clean lines.
