a-Salt-ed by Lawra

Laura passed me the salt. I feel honoured to have the salt in hand.

I’ve known Laura-porridge for a little while, I still remember (saying this makes me feel so old) Porridge coming into the world.. I was around the age when I asked lots of questions. So my mum went to hospital one day and I was told that when she came back out I’d have a new baby brother or sister.

I was very interested in this concept of hospitals giving away babies.. So I asked some more, I unfortunately don’t know for sure who I asked but I recall the conversation very well. On looking back I think it may have been with my father.
(Our parents didn’t like to give too much away)

e- Where will the baby come from?

A- The hospital

e- How does it get to the hospital?

A- Well it comes through a hole.

e- Ok.. Where is the hole?

A- In the hospital.

I try to imagine the hospital and I had already asked ‘where’ so I figure this is the answer.

me-’How does it get to the hole??’

this is why I think the conv was with my father…

A- down a chute

My intreague as I believe that laura was delivered through a hole in the wall at the hospital via a large playground like chute (slide).
Please give your kids slightly better explanations- the Stork, cabbage patch.. whatever.

I am not the only one in the family to have a wonderful imagination.

Once we found a young Laura out in the garden watering her plants and wondering why the plants she’d cared for hadn’t grown since she has been watering them reguarly.. on further investigation we found that it is because teabags don’t grow..!

Good times

ANYWAY HERE*S What everyonion really wants to see!

back in the day when we could wear our hair like we just didn’t care..! In some HUGE arran sweaters our talanted mum made

  1. Oh my! Thanks for sharing the method of getting a Lawra out of the oven. That was quite exciting to read. We need to get some better pictures taken this Christmas :)

Not only do you get to share your favorite recipe on the blog but you get to share ANY/ALL! Post away.

PS. I’m so glad we understand our hair better now.

  2. I was the youngest so I never got to ask such intelligent questions of my parents. When the time came my mom just handed me a book because I was at the age where I could read and she was concerned that I might have questions. It was a bit embarassing any way. When we tried to share information with Megan, Stuart was in the same area and, after putting his fingers in his ears, started screaming and telling me to be quiet. I’ve never had another child react in quite the same manner.

  3. I’ve heard that if a child asks.. they are ready for the truth. I think I would have been perfectly fine with it too but maybe I was a little bit young that the adult didn’t want me to lose that childhood innocence.
My sister in law told me that her 5 year old daughter asked her some questions when she was pregnant with her latest child and she told her straight.. She was very cool with it. Saying that after much pleading from Becky I gave her the basic run of things and she freaked like Stuart! :S She doesn’t seem bothered by it now tho. Maybe tho I am a bit too forward.. :S

  4. Mmm… I remember the day you were told the details, Emma… Yep. Remember that day clear as anything.

I think after Beth’s story of Stuart it’s quite obvious why we don’t have kids yet. Someone needs to sit him down again :-P

  5. and, PS. Why didn’t anyone tell me?

  6. haha.. I was playing dumb.. I was feeling embarrassed for mum and dad not knowing that I already knew! lol birds and bees pha!

  7. the birds and bees you said oh the girls are birds because thats what they are called and the boys are the bees because they have the stingers.
