Christmas talk in September?!
I like to try to be prepared and with some things I’ve learned ways to make things easier on myself, and my pocket (except for birthdays. I’m so lousy at remembering birthdays
**sorry guys**) Last year I had a bit of a break-through with enjoying a more relaxed and i think in preparation very successful Christmas. I saved a fortune by buying gifts for people when there were sale’s, before the season itself hit. I began right after Christmas with the January sales. I even managed to buy things for people that I looked at and thought they’d really like but was out of the question full price. Plus I got a discount at the store I worked, with the occasional extra 10 or 20% days throughout the year on top of that. I made the most of sales and discounts and in the end it was a lot easier to enjoy festivities without being crushed by crowds or having last minute panic that I’d forgotten a wee something nice for great uncle Bernard (I made him up, tho I would really quite like one..) or even a wee something tucked up my sleeve for any surprise carol singers etc.
That’s not to say I’m so well prepared this year. Although I did think to myself last year (as one who believes in Christ in Christmas) that I should really pay a bit more attention to ‘Christmas’ and celebrate that more all year round.. So I’ve still got my lights up from last year. Just kidding. but they are so pretty and nice, someone remind me please why do we take them down?
Its an exciting time of year. In a design sense it is natural to think in advance, to predict styles as it takes some time to produce articles. It has now started to approached the time for some people to begin working on this special time of year in their own special kind of way if they haven’t already. Some work at preparing for Christmas all year and some are thinking of the next trends for Christmas even a few years in advance, while others do little for it until two weeks before..

I still have a couple of Christmas Decorations up to remind me to celebrate all year. I have a big star hanging up and a little white stocking which is Jesus’s stocking… yup. I do think it’s important to focus on it all year.
I do a lot of our shopping online where there’s always sales and the stuff comes pre-packed so there’ll be no peeking by a cheeky husband…
