While Lene and I were out and about last week she took me on a detour to show me where I could find the British food shop, alongside you got it the ‘American shop’ It was shut so I gazed in through the window at ‘Bird’s’ custard powder and Linda McCartney vegetarian sausages and…. Biissttooooo oooooh sigh.

I’m sure I even saw some of captain jacks fish fingers. from what I’ve just discovered Captain Birds eye is back again supposedly giving frozen food a fresh image. ;b Guess what I’m bringing back with me when I go back to the highlands next week, noo not vegi sausages.. or fish fingers :S Of course they are all more expensive to buy here but I love the idea of having them available still regardless. I’m looking forward to a shop around the American one too, I’ve only briefly visited America and never got to see enough to satisfy my curiosity of it. I’ve always been interested to see the differences in products and shopping tastes and style. I think that seeing what a nation and country shop like can give you a ‘taste’ get it.. ah of what life is like there also. It can be like a mini holiday, without even leaving your city. like the inter net home- world experience but three dimensional .. you can taste, smell and touch.. walk around. whatever happened to smell-o-vision? yea, I should probably stop here.

I think that every country should have shops dedicated to only selling products from another in it. A Danish and Italian store .. in England, a Mexican and French in Germany.. etc i guess its hard work to do something like that to the degree I’d like to see, I love it when I go to big Asian food stores like the ones about London and theres one in Dundee. Theres just so much great stuff that I always discover as staples in other cultures that become part of my life that I wouldn’t be wanting to miss once I’ve experienced and become familiar with. Maybe its just me?

it would be interesting to see what people in different countries wouldn’t want to live without.

Britain. deep fried battered fish and chips. Mince and potatoes.. lovely warm gravy. Jaffa Cakes. Custard
